Made from one solid piece of oak nearly 8 feet long cut from the center of a tree. Leaving the natural edge on the inside gave it a comfortable and aesthetically appealing finish.
Wainscoting and trim all the way around the island completed this piece.

An oak slab was selected and the building process began.
Custom joinery made from the same piece to prevent warping. These bow tie joints are used on both the top and bottom of the slab.
Epoxy resin sealed this piece making it water tight and smooth bringing forward the natural beauty and craftsmanship within this unique piece of wood.
A tiny flower from the yard was sealed under the epoxy resin into a knothole where it will remain preserved as it was found.
